We are pleased to invite you to an on-line seminar organised by the research strand “Rethinking Ireland’s Place in the World: Old Configurations, New Realities”, part of the G.I.S EIRE research network.

This event will take place online on 28 September 2023 at 6pm (Paris time).

The talk will be on the theme of the Irish diaspora in France and will be given by Joana Etchart, Université de Pau and Gráinne O’Keeffe-Vigneron, Université Rennes 2.

Bio :

Joana Etchart is a Senior Lecturer in Irish and British Studies at the University of Pau. She formerly taught at the Paris Sorbonne. She takes part in French societies promoting Irish Studies (SOFEIR), and is also a member of the Oral History Network of Ireland (OHNI). She is currently writing a detailed history of community relations policy during the Troubles, 1969-1990, and of the community’s response and adhesion to it (Etchart 2023, forthcoming).

Gráinne O’Keeffe-Vigneron is maître de conférences at the Université Rennes 2 and is a member of the GIS-EIRE where she co-heads the research strand ‘Repositioning Ireland in the World’. She is currently co-editing a book with Anne Groutel, Paris 1, on Ireland and Soft Power.
